Winter Pub Runs 2010-2011
Sunday, August 29, 2010
The winter pub runs take place once a month on Sunday mornings so that they are back at the pub in time for a drink and some food.
They are off road and go in all conditions, mud, rain, snow, ice, meteor strike and are about ten miles in length (give or take a few miles either way)!
Along side the run there is a walk which is also off road and will be about 5 miles.
The runs/ walk start at 10:00am prompt and aim to be back by 12:00.
As there is more time on a Sunday morning than there is on a Thursday evening during the summer, the venues tend to be a bit further away and take in some great pubs and scenic routes and consequently are highly recommended.
Date Organiser Venue

14th November Richard Nind TBA
12th December Alan Pettitt Trevor Arms, Glynde BN8 6SS

Learn_to_Run_flyer.pdf
Have you ever wanted to run but not known where to start? Maybe you’ve tried going out for a jog only to get out of breath, develop shin splints and quit the next day. Perhaps you have friends who run and you’d love to join them. Or maybe you’ve been looking for a new social activity that will help you to get fit. If any of these things ring a bell, join us for our new “Learn to Run” course. Open to all ages and fitness levels, this course will take you from absolutely nothing to 5 km over 10 weeks.
Starting on September 7th, the course involves a 20-minute talk (expect topics such as shoes, clothing, nutrition and stretching) followed by a run on Tuesday evenings (start 6.30pm), and practice runs on Thursday nights (7pm) and Sunday mornings (9am). Alternatively, you can practise on your own or with people you’ll meet on the course.
The cost is just £50 for 10 weeks and you’ll receive a free T-shirt and a year’s membership of Horsham Joggers – plus a load of new friends and newfound energy!
So if you’ve ever wished you could be a runner, pluck up your courage and join us! For more details and to book, call Catherine on 07552 755490 or email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

What is the West Sussex Fun Run League?
The League was set up in 1982 to promote fun running for everyone, from juniors to vets, male or female, regardless of ability. One of its objectives is to encourage runners to join clubs in the League
There is a scoring system reflecting participation as well as winning, and the key principle that events should be cheap to enter (£2 per runner) to attract as many runners as possible.
Events are staged over 5km to 10km with spot prizes as opposed to prizes for excellence.
Enjoy the run!

Sussex Grand Prix
Horsham Joggers is a member of The Sussex Road Racing Grand Prix, to give it it’s full title. This is a series of road races held within Sussex during the calendar year, where prizes are awarded to the overall winners in several categories at the end of the year.
These races are not just for the faster runners! Anyone can take part and there are runners of all levels at the races. If you take part in eight races or more, you can help your club to win points at the end of the year.
In each race, points are awarded to members of Grand Prix clubs - the remaining runners in each race are not counted. The first man and the first woman will both score 500 points, the second man and woman will both score 499 points, and so on, down to the 500th man and woman, who will both score 1 point. After each race, the points that you score are recorded and kept as a cumulative total. To be eligible for prizes you must score in at least eight races (if you score in more than eight, then your best eight scores will count), two of which must be of 10 miles or more.
For more information, see the SGP website http://www.sussexgrandprix.co.uk.
We organise our own Horsham 10k road race within the Sussex Grand Prix, held in May every year.
Horsham Joggers won the Sussex Grand Prix trophy in 2007 and came third overall in 2008.
