What is the West Sussex Fun Run League?
The League was set up in 1982 to promote fun running for everyone, from juniors to vets, male or female, regardless of ability. One of its objectives is to encourage runners to join clubs in the League
There is a scoring system reflecting participation as well as winning, and the key principle that events should be cheap to enter (£2 per runner) to attract as many runners as possible.
Events are staged over 5km to 10km with spot prizes as opposed to prizes for excellence.
Enjoy the run!

Sussex Grand Prix
Horsham Joggers is a member of The Sussex Road Racing Grand Prix, to give it it’s full title. This is a series of road races held within Sussex during the calendar year, where prizes are awarded to the overall winners in several categories at the end of the year.
These races are not just for the faster runners! Anyone can take part and there are runners of all levels at the races. If you take part in eight races or more, you can help your club to win points at the end of the year.
In each race, points are awarded to members of Grand Prix clubs - the remaining runners in each race are not counted. The first man and the first woman will both score 500 points, the second man and woman will both score 499 points, and so on, down to the 500th man and woman, who will both score 1 point. After each race, the points that you score are recorded and kept as a cumulative total. To be eligible for prizes you must score in at least eight races (if you score in more than eight, then your best eight scores will count), two of which must be of 10 miles or more.
For more information, see the SGP website http://www.sussexgrandprix.co.uk.
We organise our own Horsham 10k road race within the Sussex Grand Prix, held in May every year.
Horsham Joggers won the Sussex Grand Prix trophy in 2007 and came third overall in 2008.

Winter Pub Runs 2009-2010
Tuesday, September 01, 2009
These take place at varying venues on Sunday mornings with one a month throughout the winter. They start at 10am and are predominately off road and are approximately 10 miles in length. Walkers are also very welcome and will cover about 5 miles. The aim is to be back at the pub by about 12 o’clock for a re-hydrating drink and possibly a meal.
There will be at least one walking group and one or two running groups depending on numbers and ability but no one will be left in the countryside, at least hopefully not!
We try to visit pubs that are a bit further afield than the normal summer evening runs, or perhaps a pub that we haven’t run from for a few years.
The schedule is currently:
11th October 2009 10am, Abinger Hatch, Abinger Common, RH5 6HZ, organised by Andy Mallpress
8th November 2009 10am, Cricketers Arms Berwick, East Sussex BN26 6SP, organised by Pete & Sue Noad. There is plenty of parking opposite the pub so there is no need to use their car park but be warned, Berwick is not far from Eastbourne, so it will take some time to get there!
13th December 2009 10am, Good Intent, Puttenham, GU3 1AR, organised by Neil & Valerie Maclachlan. The pub has an overflow carpark that we can use.
10th January 2010, King’s Arms Fernhurst GU27 3HA, organised by Andy & Sandra Spriggs
7th February 2010, Shepherd and Dog, Fulking, organised by Pete & Marion Leuw
7th March 2010, The Ship Inn, West Itchenor, organised by Rich Nind
