Horsham Joggers beat the weather to bring home the medals
Driving wind and rain made for tough conditions for the Horsham Joggers and Horsham Lions 10k road race on Sunday. The punishing 2 lap course takes runners up Hammerpond Road and back down Comptons Lane, combining long slow uphills and an off road section through the woods which after the downpour one could probably have swam through!
At the halfway stage Josh Hart of Epsom Oddballs was just leading from eventual runner up Darrell Stone from Steyning AC as they tore down the hill to greet the first ascent. The event continued to be very closely fought and resulted in a thrilling race seeing the first three sprint it out for the line to finish within 3 seconds of each other.
Victory went to Geoffrey Gray of Seaford Striders in a time of 35 minutes and 46 seconds . In a very close second was Darrell Stone (35.48) and third was Louis Taub of Brighton & Hove City AC (35.39). First Horsham Jogger back was Steve Wigmore (36.30),
First lady home was Samantha Alvarez of Hailsham Harriers in 40 minutes and 25 seconds. In second place was Rosalie Uphill of Hastings AC and third was Lucinda Graves (41:30) of Horsham Joggers, the latest in a series of great results from the impressive local athlete.
Horsham Joggers had another successful day at their home race, continuing the season's trend in the Sussex Grand Prix series. Steve Wigmore won the V40 prize, also bringing home team silver with Pete O'Connell (36.59) and Danny Holder (37:40), while Keith Valentine (39:24) made it two in as many weeks winning the V50.
Sarah Wigmore (43.25) made it a father and daughter double when she helped the home team clinch the ladies prize with Val Purnell (47.08) and Lucinda Graves, rounding off a very successful day yet again for the local club.
Special mention must also go to the Horsham Lions who helped to organise the day, and for whom a substantial amount of money was raised.

Many thanks to Nigel, Ali and the scorers for their diligence.
The 2005 Horsham 10K was once again part of the Sussex Grand Prix series and the new venue at the Horsham Rugby Club was considered a great sucess. We would like to thank the Horsham Lions, without whom the event could not have been run, and our sponsors Brooks and Up & Running.
Results are available in either pdf of excel and we also have selection of photos to give you a flavour of the day.
